AT
THE BEGINNING OF THE DAY
(translated by Karin
Pečnikar)
I wash my eyes
and my soul,
comb
my emotions,
tightly
braid them –
so
that loose strands
will
not slip inquisitively
into
streams and grave yards,
so
that they will not catch on thorns,
fall
into my eyes.
During the
day,
while
I work,
hair
and feelings must be tightly bound.
In the
evening I will let them loose.
