I
HAVE THE SOUND AND BREADTH OF WATER
(translated by Brigitte
Orešnik)
I stand on
the opposite shore.
Between us
are the sound and breadth of water.
I do not
know what your shore is like.
I’m past
wanting anything of yours.
I am here.
I have the
sound and breadth of water,
some
footprints in the sand,
a
bird in the bushes,
a
flower amidst the reeds,
and
a call from somewhere.
I cannot
recognize the voice.
The water
is bustling.
